Co-chaired the track (Industrial symbiosis, eco-industrial parks and eco-industrial networking and regional sustainability) at the ISDRS Conference (http://globalchallenge2009.geo.uu.nl/) in Utrecht, The Netherlands. 

20th to 23rd September 2008 - 14th Annual International Sustainable Development Research Society (ISDRS) Conference 2008 

Chaired the track (Government Policy, Corporate Strategy and Industrial Ecology / Symbiosis in Action) at the ISDRS Conference (www.14aisdrc2008.com) in Delhi organised jointly by the ISDRS & MDI Institute, New Delhi. 

27th May 2008 - Meeting of the Cross Party Group in the Scottish Parliament on Wastes Management

Participated in the Wastes Management Cross Party Group (CPG) meeting on the topic "Energy from Waste" which was organised jointly with CPG on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency . CPGs meet to ensure an exchange of information between members of the parliament, industry, academia and any other interested parties. 19th March 2008 - Carbon Footprinting Business Breakfast

Attended a carbon footprinting business breakfast organised by the Business Environment Partnership. The event was extremely helpful to understand how to assess organisational and product carbon footprint and the practical measures that can be taken to reduce this. It also included a talk on behavioural change towards sustainability within organisations. Speakers included  David Fell (Director, Brooklyndhurst) and Jill Burnett (Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Management) 

25th February 2008 

Delivered a presentation on the topic "Ecological Modernization and Industrial Ecology / Symbiosis in Action" for Students and Staff of the Division of Environmental Management and Policy at Tsinghua University by invitation from Professor Shi Lei and Dr. Wang Zhen from the Department of Environmental Science in Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. 19th February 2008

Attended a one day event "New Year, New Changes, New Challenges, New Opportunities". It  looked at the issues faced by the resource and waste management sector for 2008/2009 as well as providing an update on regulation and legislation. The event was organised by the Chartered Institution of Wastes Managementat at the City Hall in Inverness.

25th January 2008 

Attended a talk by Joan Ruddock (Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Climate Change, Biodiversity and Waste) and discussion on the UK Climate Change Bill, by invitation from Frank Doran (MP Aberdeen North). 

20th and 21st December 2007

Got selected as part of a team of 8 in the UK to attend & contribute to a two day British Council Workshop "Youth Action on Climate Change" organised & facilitated by Student Force for Sustainability. The workshop included: the formation of a Low Impact Lifestyle & Youth (LILY) group; an analysis of the carbon footprint calculators available online; better understanding of the actions and youth activities around the world in response to climate change; development of two projects to increase awareness regarding climate change and associated actions among the youth in European countries; development of UNEP funding bids to embark on the identified projects.
